Studio Storage Solution

In this project, I was tasked with designing a product that would make a net-positive impact on the studio environment. I chose to address the unsafe and disorganized drawer of loose X-Acto knives. The existing setup was not only cluttered but also hazardous, as loose blades could shift dangerously whenever the drawer was opened.

My solution was a soft organizer tray that safely secures each knife in its own slot. The tray is removable, allowing students to carry the entire set directly to their worktable for group prototyping sessions. I intentionally designed the organizer with extra capacity, more slots than the studio’s current supply of knives, so that empty spaces would subtly encourage restocking and ensure the studio remains well-equipped in the future.

This design improves safety, efficiency, and collaboration while also serving as a visual management tool to keep the studio stocked and organized.
